Unfortunately, the traditional healthcare curricula often fail to address these needs comprehensively. Technology-assisted learning and soft skills training are still lagging in many medical and nursing programs, leaving healthcare professionals without the proper tools to keep up with the modern demands of their profession.
At H-PASS, we recognized this critical gap and set out to create a solution. We wanted to design a training program that would not only equip healthcare professionals with cutting-edge technological skills but also enhance their soft skills, preparing them for the interdisciplinary, culturally diverse, and increasingly digital healthcare environments they work in today.
A Comprehensive Program for Modern Healthcare Professionals
The H-PASS program combines two crucial elements: technology-focused learning and soft skills development. By bringing together these two seemingly opposing areas into one integrated program, H-PASS aims to create a well-rounded healthcare professional who is ready to face both the technical challenges and interpersonal demands of modern healthcare.
Our goal is to offer a compact and flexible training program that fits into the complex schedules of healthcare professionals. Whether it’s a doctor, nurse, or allied health worker, H-PASS provides accessible learning that focuses on essential competencies, empowering professionals with the skills they need to succeed in today’s healthcare landscape.
Training Focus: Empathy, Communication, and Technology Integration
One of the core components of the H-PASS training is the development of soft skills, particularly those that improve patient interaction and enhance patient care. We focus on empathy, effective communication, and ethical decision-making—skills that are critical for healthcare professionals to build trust with patients, collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, and navigate complex healthcare environments.
To achieve this, we employ role-playing, patient narratives, reflective practice, and cutting-edge virtual reality (VR) tools to nurture these vital skills. By engaging in real-life scenarios and simulations, participants will have the opportunity to develop and refine their communication and conflict resolution abilities, build cultural tolerance, and better understand the impact of technology on healthcare practices.
Our training also integrates an essential focus on digital health tools, ensuring that healthcare professionals are not only tech-savvy but also capable of integrating new technologies into their daily practice seamlessly. This comprehensive approach to both technical and interpersonal skills ensures that healthcare workers are well-prepared for the demands of modern healthcare systems.
The H-PASS Greek Pilot: A Collaboration Between Key Partners
The Greek pilot of H-PASS is a crucial step in the project’s rollout. Delivered by the University of Crete in collaboration with the European University of Cyprus for the English-language version, the Greek course marks an exciting milestone in our mission to provide high-quality training to healthcare professionals across Europe.
So far, we have successfully enrolled 26 healthcare professionals in the Greek-language pilot, with 43 participants now officially registered and more joining the waiting list every day. The English-language pilot has seen 49 participants enrolled as well, with a growing interest that reflects the widespread demand for this type of training.
