H-PASS in action: local experiences from Lithuania

Implementing the H-PASS pilot training in Lithuania brought valuable lessons for our partners at LSMU University.

Key challenge: Participants came with very different levels of digital literacy and understanding of how artificial intelligence can be applied in nursing practice. This diversity required careful facilitation to ensure everyone could learn and contribute.

💡 Most impactful modules:

  • Teamwork & Communication: Highly relevant to daily clinical practice, sparking reflection on how to improve collaboration in healthcare teams.
  • Artificial Intelligence tools: These generated lively discussions, as participants debated both the opportunities and challenges of AI in nursing.

🌱 Success: The greatest achievement was the participants’ active engagement throughout the sessions. Every course was marked by curiosity, exchange, and enthusiasm — a strong signal that digital upskilling is both needed and welcomed.

Advice for other countries:

  • Select the right target audience to ensure relevance.
  • Encourage trainers to share their own practical experience with digital technologies and AI — authenticity makes a difference.

The Lithuanian experience shows how H-PASS adapts to local realities: even when digital skills differ, dialogue and teamwork create a shared path forward.
